Community Assistance and Impact Report

An overview of AARP’s emergency accommodation, legal and administrative assistance, community coordination and temporary support, financed by leadership contributions.

Community Assistance and Impact Report

AARP provides practical support to people facing urgent accommodation needs, administrative difficulties and barriers to legal or social assistance. The summaries below describe assistance reported by the association. Personal details are omitted to protect privacy.

1. Emergency accommodation for an Afghan student

An Afghan student who came to Poland for education faced an urgent accommodation problem. After he shared his request through AARP’s official Facebook page and WhatsApp group, the association coordinated offers from community members and arranged temporary accommodation for one week.

Support: emergency accommodation coordination and community mobilization.

2. Legal support for a person in a refugee camp

A person staying in a refugee camp needed legal assistance concerning refugee-status proceedings. AARP arranged legal representation and covered the lawyer’s fees and document translation costs while the case continues. This does not mean a decision has already been issued.

Support: legal representation, translation and case coordination.

3. Assistance to a woman returned from Germany

AARP provided legal guidance, connected a woman returned from Germany with relevant associations and foundations, and helped prepare documents, complete applications and arrange required photographs. The association also provided food and coordinated temporary accommodation while her paperwork was being processed.

Support: legal guidance, administrative assistance, referrals, food and temporary accommodation.

4. Guidance for other people returned from Germany

AARP provided consultations to other people returned from Germany, helping them understand possible next steps, explore accommodation options and identify organizations that might offer further support. A total has not been stated because the number has not been verified.

5. Temporary support for a person facing serious health concerns

An Afghan community member facing serious health-related concerns received initial financial assistance, consultations and language support from members of AARP’s leadership. A written commitment was subsequently made to provide support for two months, including contributions towards daily food expenses, medication and accommodation. The commitment is limited to the agreed period and does not imply automatic extension.

Funding and transparency

All assistance described in this report to date has been financed through contributions from members of AARP’s leadership. No membership-fee income or external donor funding has been used for these interventions.

None of the individuals described in this report are members of AARP or pay membership fees. Assistance was provided on the basis of identified needs, not membership status.

AARP is committed to responsible use of available resources, transparent reporting and protecting the dignity and privacy of the people supported. Further assistance is subject to available resources and any specific commitments made by the association.

We respect the privacy and dignity of the people we support. Reports focus on assistance provided and avoid unnecessary personal details.
